CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA, July 9, 2007 – North Carolina-trained fertility specialist Seth E. Katz. M.D. returns to North Carolina following teaching and private practice engagements in southern California. On July 16 he joins Reproductive Endocrinology Associates of Charlotte (REACH), one of the state’s leading in vitro fertilization (IVF) practices, renowned for success rates that are among the highest in the region.
“Dr. Katz is unquestionably a talented physician who brings experience in the full spectrum of infertility related diagnoses and treatments,” said Richard L. Wing, M.D., REACH founder and Administrative Director. “His supervisory work in egg donation, combined with his extensive research background in hormonal changes related to aging, will be invaluable for our patients, many of whom are starting their families at an older age.
“I am honored to be part of a team like REACH’s with some of the most experienced infertility specialists in the region who practice with the highest ethics and great attention to patient care,” said Katz.
In addition to his expertise with infertility-related conditions such as endometriosis, fibroids, tubal disease, recurrent pregnancy loss, and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), Katz has extensive experience with advanced minimally invasive techniques like hysteroscopic and laparoscopic surgical procedures for tubal surgery and tubal reversals.
Katz completed his undergraduate degree at Duke University and received his doctor of medicine degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1987. He completed his internship and residency in gynecology and obstetrics at the University of Arizona Health Science Center Affiliated Hospitals in Tucson, and completed a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology at the University of California, San Diego in 1998.
Katz returned to North Carolina from 2001 to 2005, where was medical director of NorthEast Center for Reproductive Health and he was in private practice at North Carolina Center for Reproductive Medicine. In 2005, he became director of ovum donation of Fertility Specialists Medical Group in San Diego and served as assistant professor in reproductive medicine at the University of California, San Diego.
